FIREBUG MEDIA

Creative arson, professionally applied.

We don't manage your brand. We light it up, then set it loose on the market before your competitors even notice the smoke.

Firebug Media Consulting is copy, code, and consulting for people who'd rather build something worth burning down than be boring.

Let's burn something →

We're small on purpose.

Firebug Media's team is tiny. Like really tiny. Just a couple of sweary, wordy strategists/writers/designers with more than 20 years across print, broadcast, and the parts of digital media most agencies pretend don't exist — plus a couple of developers who actually read the documentation. That's the whole org chart. No account managers translating your brief into jargon and back again. No junior somewhere in an open-plan office guessing what "brand voice" means.

Four people doing the work directly isn't a staffing shortage. It's a business model.

If you want a business card with fourteen names on the "our team" page, this isn't your firm. If you want the person who wrote the strategy to still be reachable when it needs fixing at 11pm on a Tuesday, you've found your guys.

Why Firebug?

Most consulting is just amateur arson. Set the place alight, invoice for the smoke, leave before anyone checks the wiring.

We do it properly. Structural. Deliberate. Insured, metaphorically speaking.

The industry standard for a "content strategy" is a PDF nobody reads, handed over by someone who won't be in the room when it fails. Ours get executed by the same person who wrote them — which changes the incentives considerably. Turns out you write differently when you're the one holding the match.

Being boring is a liability.

Somewhere between the compliance department and the mood board, most South African brands got talked out of having a personality. The logic: safe is defensible. Beige offends no one. Nobody ever got fired for commissioning another stock photo of people laughing at salad.

Here's the problem. "Nobody noticed" and "nobody remembers you exist" are the same sentence, six months apart.

The market doesn't punish boldness anywhere near as often as it punishes invisibility. We're not saying be crass, but you also don't have to become the brand version of a Drake album. Overly safe doesn't make a thumb stop scrolling, is what we're saying.

We're not interested in building you a brand nobody can object to. We're interested in building one people notice — which carries the minor occupational hazard of also being one people occasionally disagree with. Why. Because that means someone read it.

What We Do

Contact — Let's Burn Something

Got a brand that needs rebuilding, a website quietly costing you customers, or a launch that's currently just a folder of good intentions? Tell us what's not working. We'll tell you, honestly, whether we're the right people to fix it — and if we're not, we'll say so before we take your money, not after.
